Metro to run on 2 routes in Patna


Patna Metro is the proposed Mass Rapid Transit system for the City of Patna in Bihar. On Sep 14 2011, The Planning Commission of India gave approval for the Patna Metro. The Metro rail will be introduced on two routes under the public-private partnership mode. The Metro rail will run on two routes: - Dak bunglow Square to Saguna Morh and Danapur to Patna city. In the first phase, Metro Rail services would be provided between Patna and Danapur and in the second between Patna Junction and Digha, both distances of 20 km each.


Corridors
  •     Corridor 1 (15 km): Saguna More-Bailey Road-Dakbangalow Chowk-Frazer Road-Gandhi Maidan
  •   Corridor 2 (25 km): Danapur-Digha-Kurji-Raja Pul-Gandhi Maidan-Ashok Rajpath-Agamkuan-Didarganj(Patna City)

The government also plans to construct a third Metro line from Patna Junction to Digha Ghat passing through the heart of the city.

Project Detail

The Project will be based on Public-Private Partnership. The Centre would provide 20 per cent of the cost as Viability Gap Fund while the state government would spend a similar sum depending upon the final estimate of the project. The remaining amount would be borne by the private company involved in the construction of the Metro Rail. The project's total cost would be about 8000 Crore. The entire Metro System would be elevated
